Village Meat Market in the Czech Village damaged by fire

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Wednesday night fire did moderate damage to a Czech Village business.
According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, crews were called to Village Meat Market & Cafe, 92 16th Ave. SW around 11:07 p.m. Wednesday for a report of smoke in the area. Responding firefighters discovered smoke coming from the roof of Village Meat Market.
Crews located and extinguished the fire and ventilated the building. There was no one inside at the time of the fire.
The rear of the building sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage, according to the fire department. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
