Victim of fatal Cedar Rapids crash identified

CEDAR RAPIDS - Officials have identified a Cedar Rapids man as the victim in a fatal two-vehicle crash in northwest Cedar Rapids Tuesday.

Zacariah Thomsen, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency responders were called at 5:49 p.m. Tuesday to an accident with injuries at the intersection of E Avenue and Stoney Point Road NW. They determined that a vehicle traveling east on E Avenue, driven by Thomsen, did not stop at a stop sign for Stoney Point Road and struck a vehicle driven by Brianna Jo Collum, 25, of Cedar Rapids.

Collum's vehicle came to rest on Stoney Point Road near the intersection. She was not hurt. Thomsen's vehicle continued after the collision east on E Avenue and slid off the road into the north ditch, where it hit a driveway, became airborne, then collided with a tree.
