CEDAR RAPIDS - A motorcyclist involved in what police are calling a hit and run earlier this month has died.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow confirmed on Wednesday that Michael A. Olson, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died on Tuesday.
Authorities said Olson was injured when he was hit by a car around 3:17 p.m. Oct. 1 at 20th Avenue and C Street SW.
Buelow said the driver of the 2000 Honda Accord fled the scene after the crash. She is described as a woman in her early 20s with long, black hair that might have been in a ponytail.
The vehicle the woman was driving was reported stolen on Sept. 26 and the license plates on the vehicle had been stolen from yet another vehicle.
Olson was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after the crash.
Buelow said police still are seeking the public's help in identifying the driver. Anyone with information is asked to call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-272-7463 or send a text to CRIMES and in the message type 5227 and the tip.
