Victim identified in University of Iowa apartment fire

IOWA CITY - The cause of an alleged explosion that occurred Friday at the University of Iowa's Hawkeye Drive apartments remains under investigation.
UI police and the Iowa City Fire Department were called to the 620 building of Hawkeye Drive around 4:30 p.m. Friday after neighbors reported an explosion. The fire was confined to one unit in the building.
UI student Jiaxin Duan, 22, a fourth-year art major was identified as a victim in the fire. His mother, who lived in the apartment, is being assisted by the university and American Red Cross.
Autopsy results for Duan are not yet complete, according to the university.
All other tenants were allowed back into their apartments by 10:30 on Friday.
