Undocumented immigrant accused of sexual abuse in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY - An undocumented immigrant is accused of sexually abusing a girl when she was 11 and 12 years old.

According to a news release, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of sexual abuse involving a minor. The subsequent investigation showed Pedro R. Candido, 41, of West Union, sexually abused the victim when she was 11 and again when she was 12.

Candido was arrested on Wednesday on counts of second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree sexual abuse, felonies punishable by up to a combined 75 years in prison.

The sheriff's office is also working with the Department of Homeland Security Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and have determined Candido was in the United States illegally. He was placed on a hold by ICE and could face deportation, authorities said.
