Mar. 18, 2015 12:23 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS — Two DuPont employees were injured when they were splashed with liquid ammonia Wednesday morning.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said firefighters responded to DuPont, 1000 41st Avenue Drive SW, at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of two employees who were exposed to liquid ammonia. Responding crews provided assistance to two men who had been unloading a tanker when a hose came loose and splashed them with ammonia.
Buelow said the men were wearing protective gear at the time of the incident.
Both men were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The tanker was capped off and there was no additional exposure, Buelow said.
