According to Cedar Rapids police and court documents, officers responded to a report of a disturbance and shots fired in the 4100 block of Wilson Avenue SW at 10:15 p.m. July 22. Police said numerous shell casings were found at the scene, which was the nearby Westdale Court Apartments.
Investigation into the shooting determined 20-year-old Tevin Walker and 23-year-old Kevin M. Naylor were the shooters. Court documents state Naylor fired more than 10 shots at Walker and stopped to change his magazine in the midst of the shooting. At least one of the shots hit an apartment building, authorities said.
Court documents state Walker fired a gun toward a group of people 'with the intent to injure or provoke fear.” The documents do not state who he was firing at.
