Transient man faces robbery charge in Iowa City

IOWA CITY - A homeless man faces a robbery charge after pulling a knife on a convenience store clerk.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, officers were called to Delimart, 525 Highway 1 W, at 2:28 a.m. Saturday for a report of a problem. When officers arrived, witnesses pointed out 23-year-old Daryan D.K. Haynes as the issue.
Witnesses told police Haynes stole merchandise from the store. When the store clerk confronted the man, he pulled a knife on the clerk and attacked him.
Haynes was arrested and faces one count of first-degree robbery, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
