Tiffin man accused of abusing young girl

TIFFIN - A Tiffin man is accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl over a five-year period.
According to Johnson County Sheriff's Office criminal complaints, deputies responded to a request from the Department of Human Services to assist in a sexual abuse investigation. As part of that investigation, a deputy interviewed Clyde W. Hinkle, 50.
During the interview, Hinkle admitting to committing a sex act on the girl multiple times over the course of five years, complaints show. Hinkle said he might have performed other sex acts, as well. A medical exam found evidence of injuries consistent with sexual abuse, authorities said.
Hinkle admitted during the interview that his actions were wrong, the sheriff's office said.
Hinkle has been arrested and faces charges of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony; lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony; and two other Class D felonies. If convicted on all four charges, Hinkle could spend up to 45 years in prison.
