CEDAR RAPIDS - Three Cedar Rapids residents are accused of cooking meth in their home.
According to the Linn County attorney's Office, Cedar Rapids police executed a search warrant on March 2 at 1230 Sixth St. NW, the home of 32-year-old Joseph A. Meyers, 28-year-old Melanie M. Padilla and 26-year-old Justin J Plowman. Police said they found an active meth lab inside the home, as well as items used in the meth manufacturing process.
All three residents were interviewed by police and each admitted to making meth. They have been arrested and each face charges of manufacturing a controlled substance and three counts of possession of precursors.
Padilla was previously arrested in another meth-related incident involving her then-infant son. Police executed a search warrant at Padilla's Johnson Avenue apartment on March 21, 2012 and found the remnants of a meth lab. Padilla admitted to supplying meth making items to other people in order to make the drug. She was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting in the manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of precursors and child endangerment.
According to court documents, Padilla reached a plea agreement in that case that saw her receive a deferred judgment and a suspended jail sentence of one year. She was discharged from probation in that case in November 2015.
