CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested in connection with one of a trio of shootings that occurred on July 16.
Federico J. Luna, 18, has been charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, carrying a weapon and reckless use of a firearm. Authorities said that Luna shot and damaged two vehicles in the 400 block of 16th Street SE around 7:08 p.m. July 16. There were people close to the area where Luna was shooting, but no one was hit, said Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow.
That shooting was the first of three reported that night.
Just before 9 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting next to Sam's Liquor, 1500 First Ave. NE. Police said several juveniles were involved in the shooting, which left a 16-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Police were back in the 400 block of 16th Street NE at 10:17 p.m. when multiple shots were fired again. No one was injured in that shooting.
Buelow said Luna was arrested Sunday in the 1900 block of F Avenue NW. The other shooting incidents remain under investigation.
