Suspected West Union murder-suicide under investigation

WEST UNION - A suspected murder-suicide is under investigation in West Union.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, authorities responded to a report of shots fired in West Union at 8:52 p.m. Wednesday and found a woman laying on the ground outside an apartment on Linden Street. Deputies and West Union police officers found the body of 27-year-old Morgan Elizabeth Kaye. She was suffering from a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Anthony Ray Hebert, 27, was identified as a suspect in the fatal shooting. His pickup was later found south of Calmar on Highway 150. Hebert's body was found inside the truck. Authorities said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office, West Union Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate the incident.
