Suspect sought in Iowa City strong arm robbery

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating a report of a robbery.
Around 1:13 a.m. Sunday, police took a report of a strong arm robbery that had happened about two hours earlier. The victim told police he was walking in the alley behind New Pioneer Co-op, 22 S. Van Buren St., when he was approached by two men who started talking to him.
Police said one of the men then attacked the victim and both men demanded his phone and wallet. Authorities said the suspects got away with cash from the victim before fleeing the area. The victim told police he ran home before calling the police.
The victim did not require medical treatment, police said.
One suspect was described as being about 6 feet tall with a muscular build, short buzzed hair and wearing a white and navy blue crew neck shirt. The other suspect was also about 6 feet tall, with light brown scruffy hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap and gray sweater or sweatshirt.
Police are asking anyone with information on the crime to contact the police department or Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS.
