Springville man accused of driving drunk, smashing into shed

SPRINGVILLE - A Springville man was arrested early Friday after drunkenly driving around the community before crashing into a shed, authorities said.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Marion police and crews from the Springville, Anamosa and Mount Vernon fire departments were called to a report of a white truck driving recklessly around Springville around 2:05 a.m. Friday. Authorities said the truck crashed into a shed, which then caught on fire.

The driver of the truck was identified as Kurt A. Hepker, 37. Hepker was arrested and faces one count of drunken driving, as well as traffic violations. Authorities said the shed was destroyed, but there was no damage reported to other structures.

Hepker was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
