IOWA CITY - The second suspect in an August robbery has been arrested.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, 20-year-old Terry Madison faces charges of first-degree robbery, a Class B felony, and possession of a firearm as a felon, a Class D felony. Another man, 19-year-old Raekwon D. Shack, was previously arrested in connection with the case.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred around 11:14 p.m. Aug. 26 at 2502 Bartelt Road. Police said Madison and Shack were carrying weapons and approached a group of people and demanded cash and property before leaving the scene on foot.
A K-9 officer was called to the scene and led officers to an apartment building at 359 Willowind Place. Officers set up a perimeter around the building and ordered the two men out. Police said after about half an hour, Shack came out of the apartment carrying his young child.
Police searched the apartment and found items taken from the victims, as well as two guns. Shack was arrested at the time; however, police said they needed additional time to establish a case against Madison.
If convicted of both offenses, Madison could spend up to 30 years in prison.
