IOWA CITY - A second man has been arrested for a series of dormitory burglaries on the University of Iowa campus.
According to criminal complaints, 19-year-old Alec J. Leibold, of Davenport, has been charged with one count of first-degree theft and 12 counts of second-degree burglary. Both offenses are Class C felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Police said Leibold and two others broke into a dozen dorm rooms in the Quadrangle and Hillcrest residence halls in the early morning hours of Feb. 1. The suspects stole property worth more than $13,000, police said.
Leibold was seen on video following one of the other suspects with property and admitted to police that he was going to drive the other two suspects back to his apartment. The three suspects are seen on video leaving in Leibold's car.
Last week, police arrested another man, 19-year-old Jacob J. Odean, in the case. Odean was also charged with one count of first-degree theft and 12 counts of second-degree burglary.
