CORALVILLE - A second arrest has been made in connection with a spate of car burglaries in Coralville.
Jace C. Vergara, 18, of Coralville is accused of breaking into three vehicles between April 18 and April 29. Checkbooks and a pay stub were stolen from the vehicles, Coralville police said.
Vergara admitted to breaking into multiple vehicles and stealing items inside, police said.
Police said Vergara was joined by 22-year-old Jonathan Compau, of North Liberty, who was arrested last month in connection with the burglaries. Police said Compau forged two of the stolen checks and wrote them to himself for a total of $500. He faces two counts of forgery and five counts of third-degree burglary of an unoccupied motor vehicle.
Vergara faces four counts of third-degree burglary of a motor vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.
