Second Cedar Rapids police K-9 gets protective vest

CEDAR RAPIDS - Another Cedar Rapids police K-9 has been awarded a protective vest.
K-9 officer Ace has been given a bullet and stab vest through Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest was sponsored by the Quad City Area Women Police of Bettendorf.
Ace is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois trained in narcotics detection. He is partnered with officer Nathan Trimble.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a Massachusetts-based charity that provides protective vests to police dogs in the United States. The organization has provided more than 1,550 protective vests through private and corporate donations.
The suggested donation to sponsor a K-9 vest is $1,050. Each vest has a value between $1,795 and $2,234, a five-year warranty and an average weight of four to five pounds.
