Safe Kids Day at Kernels game on Thursday

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Linn County Safe Kids Coalition hosts its annual Safe Kids Day event at the Cedar Rapids Kernels game on Thursday.
Children who attend the event get a free bicycle helmet and families are to be presented with safety information. Children also can put on a police officer or firefighter uniform in a photo booth area and meet McGruff the Crime Dog. A police squad car and firetruck will be parked in front of Veterans Memorial Stadium, 950 Rockford Road SW.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the 6:35 p.m. game. Club tickets are $8 and can be purchased by calling the Kernels ticket office at (319) 896-7560 and mentioning Safe Kids Day.
