Robbery reported at Monticello bank

MONTICELLO - Police say two women were robbed Monday night outside a bank in Monticello.

According to the Monticello Police Department, officers responded to Citizens State Bank at 9:34 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. The alleged victims - two employees at the Fareway grocery store - told police they were attempting to complete a night deposit at the bank when they were approached by a man with a gun who ordered them to give up the deposit bag.

Police said the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a 'small-framed” man, about 20 to 30 years old, wearing black pants, a black sweat shirt and a black ski mask.
