IOWA CITY - A Wellman man was arrested after a road rage incident earlier this month.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened just east of Iowa City, around 2:08 a.m. July 1. Authorities said 24-year-old Jordan S. Yoder chased the other driver at high rates of speed on Highway 6 and American Legion Road.
Yoder allegedly rammed the other driver's vehicle twice, pulled up alongside him and shouted, 'I am gonna kill you.”
Authorities said the other driver feared for his safety and fled the area to get away from Yoder. Yoder was later involved in a crash on American Legion Road and Arlington Drive that resulted in injuries to himself and a passenger. Yoder's injuries were severe, according to the sheriff's office.
Yoder was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to be treated. There, a sample of his blood was taken and sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal investigation lab for testing, which showed his blood alcohol content to be .237 percent, nearly three times the limit to lawfully operate a vehicle in Iowa.
Yoder was arrested Friday morning and faces charges of drunken driving and assault with intent to inflict serious injury.
