CEDAR RAPIDS - Police found pot, cocaine and weapons after a traffic stop Wednesday night.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said officers were on patrol in the area of 11th Street and Eighth Avenue SW around 10:34 p.m. Wednesday when they saw a vehicle on Eighth Avenue traveling with no headlights or taillights on. Officers pulled over the driver, 21-year-old Anton J.M. Lucas, of Cedar Rapids.
Buelow said when the officers approached the vehicle, they saw an open bottle of gin in the back seat. Lucas was asked to exit the vehicle so officers could conduct field sobriety tests. When he got out, police found a scale in Lucas' pocket, Buelow said.
A further search of the vehicle turned up 9.8 grams of cocaine, 117 grams of marijuana, a straw used to snort cocaine and two firearms, Buelow said.
Lucas was arrested and faces charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, two counts of Iowa drug tax stamp violation, two counts of carrying weapons, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to use headlamps when required and open container.
