IOWA CITY - An Iowa City woman is accused of leaving her 14-month-old daughter home alone last month so she could go drinking.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, officers responded to a welfare check at 615 S. Governor St. around 3:14 a.m. Aug. 20. When police arrived, they found Brianna M. Gore, 21, alone with her child. Gore was in a 'highly intoxicated state,” police said.
Police said they determined that Gore left her 14-month-old daughter home alone for 'multiple hours” in order to go drinking. Gore lied about who was taking care of her daughter and came home after drinking 'a large amount of alcohol,” police said.
Gore was arrested Monday afternoon and faces one count of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.
