Dec. 7, 2017 12:45 pm
IOWA CITY - Two men - one of them armed with a rifle - are accused of robbing two men and sexually assaulting a woman inside an Iowa City apartment last month.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 11:30 p.m. Nov. 3, two men - identified as 25-year-old Sullivan P. Smith-Berry and 28-year-old Earl L. Riley, both of Iowa City - kicked in the door of an Iowa City apartment. Police said two male residents and one of the resident's sisters were inside of the apartment.
Police said Smith-Berry was carrying an 'AR style rifle” and wearing a partial mask. Smith-Berry and Riley are accused of assaulting the two male residents with the rifle and kicking them while they on the floor. The men demanded cash from the victims.
Smith-Berry then allegedly gave the rifle to Riley, took the female victim into a separate bedroom and sexually assaulted her for several minutes, police said.
Police said Smith-Berry and Riley left the residence with cash and property, including a PlayStation 4. They have been arrested and each face charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery and second-degree sexual assault.
