A Cedar Rapids bank has been robbed for the second time this month.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said Guaranty Bank, 2711 Bever Ave. SE, was robbed just after 1 p.m. Thursday. Buelow said a man entered the bank, displayed a gun and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a black man wearing a long sleeve white t-shirt. No one was injured in the robbery.
The same branch of Guaranty Bank was robbed at gunpoint on May 16. No arrest has been made in that case.
The city has seen a spate of bank robberies this spring, with three occurring in a one-week span in late April and early May. Police have made one arrest, 24-year-old Jacob Allen Mack, who allegedly robbed the downtown branch of Hills Bank and Trust on May 2.
The new Guaranty Bank at the intersection of Bever Avenue and Memorial Drive SE in Cedar Rapids includes a gazebo. The gazebo was included so the bank fit in with the character of neighborhood, which includes Bever Park across the street.
