Police: Coralville man threatened to shoot up restaurant over pizza order

CORALVILLE - A Coralville man faces jail time after threatening to 'shoot up” a pizza restaurant over messing up his order.

According to a Coralville police criminal complaint, officers were called to Domino's, 2421 James St., around 10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man who had threatened to 'shoot up the place with a .45.”

Police spoke with the victim and witnesses who reported that 30-year-old Dusten L. Kemp had placed an order the night before, which he said was wrong. Kemp called back Wednesday night and Domino's agreed to send him two pizzas, police said.

However, police said when the delivery driver arrived at Kemp's home on Fourth Avenue Place in Coralville, he was drunk and had taken his clothes off. Kemp allegedly grabbed the driver's arm and made several threats in response to his previously messed up order, police said.

The driver called his boss, who also overheard Kemp tell the driver that he was going to 'come down to Domino's and shoot the place up with a .45,” police said.

After the driver positively identified Kemp as the one making threats, police went to Kemp's home and arrested him. Police said Kemp denied making any threats, but admitted the driver had been at his home. He now faces charges of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor; and assault, a simple misdemeanor.
