Pentacrest confrontation leads to robbery, harassment charges

IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man faces robbery and harassment charges after confronting two people on the University of Iowa Pentacrest.
According to UI Police criminal complaints, around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, 27-year-old Daniel P. Myrick confronted two people on the Pentacrest about 'disrespecting the flag.” Police said Myrick told one victim to empty his pockets. He also said he had a gun and would shoot the other victim in her eye.
Police said after informing the suspects he had a gun, Myrick reached into his backpack and pulled out a large, black flashlight. Myrick told the male victim he would knock out all of his teeth.
Myrick was arrested and faces one count of second-degree robbery, a Class C felony; and two counts of first-degree robbery, an aggravated misdemeanor.
