Linn County likely to extend solar moratorium through June

Linn County supervisors will vote Wednesday on likely extending a moratorium on new large-scale solar projects as Renewable Energy Review committees study the county ordinance governing the solar projects. The moratorium does not affect the already-approved solar projects near Palo and Coggon, which remain underway.

Bid documents spell out $2.7 million of proposed improvements over six years at the resort on Rathbun Lake. Those include the construction of a new welcome center, ice cream parlor, spa, workout facility, small group pavilions, upgraded landscape and upgrades to marina/water park recreation area.

We focus on stories that impact our core communities of the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City metro areas, and look to identify stories of major statewide importance. We strive to understand national and international events through a lens for Iowa impact.
  • There are more stories happening in eastern Iowa than we have the resources to cover. This leads to some pretty hard decisions. Things like staff schedules, event timing and expected outcomes at the events can also be factors in the decisions.
