Cedar Rapids man charged in child sex abuse

CEDAR RAPIDS -- A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Saturday, accused of sexually abusing a child several times over multiple years.

Frank Volmar Acevedo, 53, is charged with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count each of continuous sexual abuse of a child, indecent contact with a child and indecent exposure.

The 10-year-old child told the Child Protection Center that Acevedo abused her multiple times in two locations in Cedar Rapids when she was 9, in 2021 and 2022. She said he began abusing her when she was 6 or 7, according to a criminal complaint.

Acevedo is being held in the Linn County Jail. A no-contact order has been issued on behalf of the child.
