NORTH LIBERTY - Two North Liberty residents face multiple felonies after police found stolen equipment and drugs at their residence.
According to North Liberty police criminal complaints, officers responded to 455 Penn Court at 6:34 p.m. Wednesday for a stolen property complaint. The complainant told police that a trailer light tower and trailer compressor - valued at $80,000 - were missing and a GPS locator on the compressor led authorities to 455 Penn Court. Police said the light tower was located outside in the parking lot and the compressor was determined to be in the garage.
Police said when they opened the garage, the compressor was located along with marijuana in plain view.
A search warrant was seized at the residence and police located 41 jars of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a scale. Inside the residence, officers located a .32 caliber revolver that was reported stolen out of California. Approximately 40 hydromorphone pills were also found at the residence.
The occupants, 29-year-old Samuel T. Foster and 19-year-old Amber L. Menzer were arrested. Both Foster and Menzer face charges of first-degree theft, Iowa drug tax stamp violation and two counts of controlled substance violation. Foster faces an additional charge of trafficking in stolen weapons.
First-degree theft and one of the controlled substance violations are class C felonies, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The remaining offenses are class D felonies, punishable by up to five years in prison.
