North Liberty man dies in Iowa City crash

IOWA CITY - A North Liberty man died Monday after being involved in a single-vehicle crash on Dubuque Street.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Timothy C. Nelson Jr., 27, was driving northbound on Dubuque Street 'at a high rate of speed” and hit a traffic control pole near the Interstate 80 interchange around 1:13 p.m. Monday. Authorities said Nelson was ejected from the Chevrolet Impala he was driving, which then caught fire.
Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene and the crash remains under investigation, the state patrol said.
