North Liberty day care provider accused of using drugs during nap time

NORTH LIBERTY - A North Liberty day care provider was arrested last week for smoking pot while on the job.
According to North Liberty police criminal complaints, witnesses observed 54-year-old Pamela A. Nelson smoking marijuana at her Golfview Court home around 2 p.m. on April 15.
Police responded and recovered the pipe. Nelson admitted to smoking marijuana to officers, police said. She appeared 'impaired,” police said.
Nelson was operating a day care at the time of her arrest, with six children inside her residence sleeping. Nelson was the only person home at the time, aside from the children, police said.
Nelson was arrested and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. If convicted of both offenses, she could spent up to three years in prison.
