Muscatine man accused of LSD possession in Iowa City

IOWA CITY - A Muscatine man faces prison time for possession and distribution of LSD.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 8:40 p.m. Dec. 9, officers spotted a suspicious car parked on the top level of the Chauncey Swan parking ramp. Police spoke with the four occupants of the car and detected a 'strong pungent odor” of burned marijuana.
Police searched the occupants as well as the vehicle. Officers said they found LSD wrapped up in magazine paper in the front pocket of 27-year-old Jairin D. Genung.
Genung admitted to having more LSD in his wallet and identified 63 additional hits of LSD which were believed to have been distributed at a night club in Iowa City, police said.
Genung was arrested and faces charges of controlled substance violation, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison; and Iowa drug tax stamp violation, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
