WEST BRANCH — Mundi McCarty has been named president and CEO of the Hoover Presidential Foundation in West Branch.
McCarty, a West Branch native, has been the foundation’s vice president of development and served as interim CEO after the retirement of the foundation’s President and CEO Jerry Fleagle earlier this year.
McCarty, originally from West Branch, joined the foundation in 2017 as director of development.
“As a child growing up in historic West Branch, I was aware of the importance of Herbert and Lou Henry Hoover’s stories,” McCarty said in a statement.
“As an interpretive ranger for the Hoover National Historic Site a few summers during college, I gained an even deeper appreciation for their legacies and what a treasure the historic site and presidential library are for the community, the state of Iowa and the nation,” she said.
Barry Butler, outgoing chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees, said McCarty “draws on years of experience to lead the organization at this very important time. The trustees are grateful that she accepted the position and have our full support.”
Most recently, McCarty has coordinated the foundation’s fundraising for the $20 million Timeless Values | Modern Experience campaign to renovate the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch, Hoover’s hometown.
“This historic undertaking marks a significant milestone for the Hoover campus, as a project of such magnitude holds great importance for continued sharing of the Hoover’s story as an Iowan, the 31st president and the great humanitarian,” McCarty said. “I am honored to be a part of this effort.”
