Two teenagers were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said police and fire personnel responded to a single-car crash in the 200 block of Johnson Avenue NW at 6:48 a.m. Friday.
Buelow said a Chevrolet Cavalier - reportedly driving at a high rate of speed - crashed into a utility pole. One of the occupants, a 19-year-old woman, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. The driver, an 18-year-old woman, was also seriously injured. Both were transported to St. Luke's Hospital.
A third occupant was not injured, Buelow said.
The names of the women involved in the crash are being withheld pending notification of family. Buelow said charges are pending.
