More teens arrested in October Coralville burglary

Dec. 28, 2015 12:00 pm
CORALVILLE - Three more teens have been charged in connection with an October burglary that involved the theft of several guns.
According to Coralville police criminal complaints, Laron J. Crittenden, 17, of Coralville; Lavaughnus T. Harris, 15, of Coralville; and Antonio L. Joyner, 16, of North Liberty; each face a single count of third-degree burglary, a Class D felony. Joyner also faces an additional charge of trafficking in stolen weapons, also a Class D felony.
The trio joins 15-year-old Carter W. Baldwin as those arrested in connection with the break-in. Baldwin was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, second-degree theft and unauthorized possession of offensive weapons in November.
Police said the four teens broke into a Coralville home around 7:20 p.m. on October 24. Once inside, they found a gun safe and stole long guns, hand guns, CO2 guns, ammunition and a katana-style sword. The stolen items were later found in Baldwin's home, police said.
One of the teens, Crittenden, was wearing a GPS bracelet at the time of the break-in. Police said they used GPS information to place him at the scene.
Police said the day after the burglary, Joyner traded one of the guns to another person for a controlled substance, earning him the trafficking charge.
The Gazette identifies juveniles facing felony charges.
