CEDAR RAPIDS - Police said a man broke into a home under construction to cook meth.
According to Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow, shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, neighbors in the area of Shady Grove Road SW reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers responded and found a light on in a home under construction at 2011 Shady Grove Road SW.
A K-9 unit was sent into the residence and 46-year-old Curtis L. Prescott was located inside, along with two 'one-pot” style meth labs.
Prescott was arrested and faces charges of third-degree burglary, aiding and abetting the manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of possession of meth precursors.
Buelow praised the 'great work” of the citizens in the area who alerted police to the suspicious activity.
