Marion woman accused of using fake name to get medical treatments

IOWA CITY - A Marion woman is accused of using a fake name to obtain more than $11,000 in medical services at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
According to University of Iowa Department of Public Safety criminal complaints, between April 28, 2015 and May 24, 2015, 41-year-old Janie L. Zerbee visited the UIHC Emergency Department twice. In each case, Zerbee complained of pain and used a fake name, police said.
Police said Zerbee received injections of painkillers and a prescription for another painkiller during her visits.
The costs of her two visits totaled $11,396.33, police said.
Zerbee has been arrested and faces charges of first-degree theft, a Class C felony; prohibited acts, a Class C felony; and three counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drug. The offenses carry a potential sentence of 23 years in prison.
