Marion man found in Iowa City with ingredients used to make explosives

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police said they found the ingredients necessary to make an explosive device on a Marion man Thursday.
Police said they found Elisha A. Secrest, 24, walking in the 300 block of South Dubuque Street at 8;13 p.m. A warrant is out for his arrest, and he was taken into custody.
When police searched Secrest, they found 'multiple items consistent with property used in the intent of making an explosive device,” according to criminal complaints.
Police said an explosives expert at the department confirmed one of the items contained all of the components necessary to make an explosive.
Police said they also found handwritten notes listing multiple chemicals titled 'Weaponized Chemical.”
In addition to the explosives materials, police said they found two pipes containing marijuana residue and a third pipe with a white residue consistent with methamphetamine.
Secrest was arrested and faces charges of possession of explosives, a felony; possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
