Marion man faces arson charge for April apartment fire

MARION - A Marion man faces an arson charge in connection with a fire at an apartment building earlier this year.
According to the Linn County Attorney's Office, Marion police determined that a fire set at 1460-8 Meadowview Drive on April 18 was intentionally started by 26-year-old Nathan W. Dampier, who lived at that address. Authorities said Dampier poured gasoline on an apartment door and set it on fire while other people were in the building.
Dampier has been charged with first-degree arson, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
