Marion man accused of slashing woman’s neck

MARION - A Marion man is accused of seriously injuring a woman with a knife.
According to the Linn County Attorney's Office, on Dec. 22, 50-year-old David M. Merrifield attacked a woman with a buck knife. Authorities said Merrifield slashed the woman's neck, causing her to suffer a six-inch long laceration that was approximately an inch deep.
Merrifield was arrested and faces charges of willful injury and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
