Marijuana grow operation discovered in Iowa City apartment

IOWA CITY - Police said they discovered a marijuana grow operation in an Iowa City man's residence.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, on May 25, officers served a search warrant at 427 S. Johnson St., No. 3, the home of 22-year-old Shuoyang Yu. Police said Yu, aka Fish, had two marijuana plants, heat lamps, fluorescent lights and other drug paraphernalia in his apartment. Yu admitted to growing marijuana for his own use, police said.
Yu was arrested and faces charges of controlled substance violation, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of Iowa drug tax stamp violation.
