CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man was hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries after his truck crashed into the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, deputies, the West Bertram Fire Department and Area Ambulance were called out to the Kingdom Hall, 7121 Mount Vernon Road SE, around 9:49 a.m. for a crash with injuries.
Deputies discovered that 64-year-old Randall Maher had been westbound on Mount Vernon Road in a flatbed truck when he lost control and entered the south ditch. The truck spun and hit the west side of the Kingdom Hall, coming to a rest inside the building.
No one was inside the building at the time of the crash.
Maher was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for what deputies believe to be non-life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
