Man faces attempted murder charge after Wednesday night shots fired incident

CEDAR RAPIDS - An 18-year-old faces an attempted murder charge following a Wednesday night shots fired incident in southeast Cedar Rapids.
Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of 16th Street SE at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday. Responding officers discovered shell casings at the scene, but no evidence of injuries.
After several people were questioned by police, officers determined the shots were fired at a passing vehicle. Several suspects were identified and a handgun believed to have been used in the incident was recovered.
Jontreyvius Richmond, 18, faces charges of attempted murder, carrying weapons, intimidation with a weapon and going armed with intent. Police also arrested 23-year-old Jawuan Dunlap and 20-year-old Maurice Johnson. Dunlap faces charges of possession of marijuana and public intoxication. Johnson faces one count of public intoxication.
Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
