IOWA CITY - A Coralville man faces burglary and theft charges after being spotted walking down an alley with a stolen TV.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 11 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a man walking down an alley with a TV in his hands in southeast Iowa City. Police said the city has seen a rash in daytime burglaries.
Police located a man matching the description provided and he was still carrying a TV. The man was identified as 31-year-old Christopher L. Wright and he was determined to have warrants for his arrest, police said.
Officers later determined a house in the 2200 block of H Street had been broken into and a TV had been stolen. The homeowner identified the TV Wright was carrying as his own, police said.
Wright was arrested and faces charges of third-degree burglary and second-degree theft, both Class D felonies punishable by up to five years in prison. He is also being held on charges of second-degree domestic abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.
