IOWA CITY - A homeless man is accused of sexually abusing a woman last month in Iowa City.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, officers responded to an unspecified address in Iowa City around 12:20 a.m. Jan. 16 after a man called 911 to report what sounded like 'not consensual sex” happening in between two homes. When officers arrived, they saw 32-year-old Alexander K. Iverson trying to remove the woman's clothes.
Police said the woman had a cut on her head and leaves in her hair and on her back. Iverson was partially undressed, police said.
Video recovered during the subsequent investigation showed the woman falling down in a bar and Iverson helping her up.
The woman told police she has no recollection of being at the bar or meeting Iverson, police said. Iverson denied having sexual contact with the woman.
Iverson was arrested and faces one count of third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
