Live: Protest in downtown Iowa City on Saturday
An organized peaceful protest was held in Iowa City midday Saturday.
Below is a recap of live coverage from reporter Trish Mehaffey who was there.
The event began at 11 a.m. in the Ped Mall, where community members spoke, then at noon there was a face-down silent protest for eight minutes and 46 seconds. After that, marchers followed a planned route through the streets of downtown to end back to the Ped Mall.
