Linn County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal crash north of Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - The Linn County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal, single-vehicle crash north of Mount Vernon.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies, the Mount Vernon Fire Department and Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance service were called to a personal injury crash at 1001 W. Mount Vernon Road at 5:51 a.m. Thursday. First responders determined that the driver was westbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer when the vehicle entered the north ditch, hit a driveway and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a bean field.
Authorities said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld until relatives are notified. There were no other people in the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
