Iowa Medical and Classification Center inmate dies

CORALVILLE - An Iowa Medical and Classification Center inmate died of natural causes Sunday.
According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, 71-year-old Russell J. Fitz died at 11:23 p.m. Sunday in a hospice room where he had been housed due to a chronic illness. Fitz had been serving a life sentence for first-degree murder out of Black Hawk County since Dec. 31, 1974.
