IOWA CITY — The Iowa City Police Department is sponsoring a one-day RAGBRAI ride and overnight camping trip.
Iowa City police community services officer Henri Harper said the police department is providing resources for a sag wagon, meals and overnight camping outside of Cresco on Thursday, July 27. The resources will go to seven children and three adult chaperones riding the leg of RAGBRAI from Charles City to Cresco.
Harper said the ride is part of the Neighborhood Center of Johnson County's Youth Off-Road Riders Cycling Program, which provides area youth with 'the coaching and camaraderie needed to help them achieve both competitive and non-competitive cycling goals in a safe and enjoyable manner.'
Anyone from the Iowa City area is welcome to stop by the campsite at Harvest Farm Campground Resource, 3690 318th Ave., to meet the riders.
Harper said the group will return to Iowa City on Friday.
